Another month, another Glossybox. Glossybox, for those who don’t know, is a beauty subscription box similar to Birchbox and Ipsy but slightly more expensive ($21/mo). It combines the high(er) end products that Birchbox features with the sizes of Ipsy products.
I was pretty happy with Glossybox June 2015, despite already owning two out of the five products I got in my box. In no particular order I received:
Too Faced – Better Than Sex Mascara
This is one of the products I already own but I’m more than happy to get a spare since it’s my favorite mascara ever! The brush is huge and fluffy (is that the right word?) and gives TONS of volume and length. The formula is great and even though it isn’t waterproof, it has amazing staying power. If you’re looking for a review of this product, check out my March “What’s in my Makeup Bag” post, where I explain in a little more detail.
City Cosmetics – City Lips
City Lips is a collagen lip plumping treatment that is supposed to give you full plump lips in an instant and keep that pout going for “long lasting results”. I had never heard of this product before, so I googled it and found tons of beauty bloggers and vloggers raving about it. I however am not the least bit impressed. I’ve tried applying this both by itself (the product is clear) and with lipstick and it’s done absolutely nothing. It doesn’t even tingle! Absolutely not worth the ridiculous $35 price tag.
ORLY – Nail Polish in the shade Sheer Nude
This is both very sheer and very nude. Perfect for the girl who likes to grow out her nails, but constantly gets shit underneath them so she needs to wear polish to make sure people don’t judge her. It’s like a glossier and slightly more opaque version of my naked nails!
Nexxus – Color Assure Conditioner
This is the second product from the box that I already own. I’ve actually been using this as my regular conditioner for a while now, since its super hydrating and leaves my hair extra extra shiny! Thanks for the spare, Glossybox.
Etre Belle – Aloe Vera Moisturizing Gel
I’m going to be honest; I’m a little confused by this bright green gooey stuff. It’s not super clear what this product does since I’m mostly finding reviews in French, but its an aloe vera gel that’s supposed to revive skin and improve elasticity. I put a little bit of the product on the back of my hand and while it is super moisturizing, it also has a really strong musky smell. I don’t know if I want my face to smell like that so I’m going to have to pass on this.
I really liked three out of the five products in the box so I’m going to give this box an overall score of 7/10. Are you subscribed to any beauty boxes that you just absolutely love? Let me know in the comments section below!!
